Case Study: A Truck Breakdown in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
The call involved a 2019 International LT625 truck operated by US Foods. The truck was broken down in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after the driver noticed two serious issues:

- The driver-side hub seal appeared to be leaking.
- The brakes were continuously hissing after disengaging the brakes while driving.
Because the truck was not operating properly, the driver needed assistance as quickly as possible.
Diagnosing the Problem On-Site
A Motorplex technician was dispatched from the Spokane area and travelled to the customer’s location in Coeur d’Alene. Upon arrival, the technician inspected the truck to determine the cause of the problems, and he found two issues.
First, the rear axle brake chamber had failed, causing the brake-related problem the driver reported. Second, the leaking seal was not a hub seal, as initially suspected. It was caused by a failed axle seal.
Parts Weren’t Available, So We Offered a Tow
Unfortunately, neither part needed for the repair was available at that moment, and none were nearby. He couldn’t complete the repairs on the roadside. So, we offered towing so they could keep moving and get the truck fixed.
The driver spoke with the dispatch team and decided to return to Spokane with the technician. The driver was dropped off at US Foods, and the team arranged for a tow truck to return and retrieve the disabled vehicle. We towed it to our yard in Spokane and stood by for instructions from the customer. Once they had their situation sorted, we’d be there to help out again.
In this situation, we couldn’t do the on-site repair, but we were able to properly diagnose the issue and give the customer options. This helped them make a decision and allowed us to coordinate the next stage of our fleet service.
