Serving Spokane and Auburn with Full-Service Fleet and Heavy-Duty Repair
When you own a large Class A motorhome, you need a motorhome repair shop that can actually handle it. These big rigs sit on heavy-duty chassis, weigh far more than the average vehicle, and require equipment designed for full-size commercial buses and trucks.
If you own one of these Class A RVs and live in Spokane, Motorplex is your go-to shop for engine and mechanical repairs. Our shop is fully equipped to lift, service, and repair large diesel and gas motorhomes, including coach-style units built on F53 chassis like the Zarowni that came into our shop recently.
What Our Courtesy Inspection Revealed
The customer arrived with transmission problems and concerns about the cooler and lines. Before diving into the repair, our team performed a full courtesy inspection to make sure nothing else would cause the driver problems on the road.
The inspection showed squishy shocks, very worn and cracked leaf-spring bushings, and an air filter that needed replacing. Catching issues like these early is one of the best parts of preventive maintenance, especially on a vehicle that goes on long adventures.
Challenging Transmission Cooler and Line Repairs on a Large RV
Once the inspection was complete, our technician got to work on the transmission system. His report gives a clear picture of the challenges involved with RVs. Once the transmission lines were removed, the technician had to remove the threaded fitting insert from the bottom of the radiator and the top of the transmission cooler. The quick connect wouldn’t release, and even trying to remove it with a vice didn’t work.
The recommendation was to replace the threaded radiator and transmission cooler inserts during the job. Parts like these can wear with age, and it’s something we see often on older rigs. Replacing these inserts ensured a secure system free of leaks and helped protect the brand-new components being installed. We always ensure thorough motorhome repairs in Spokane.
Installing the New Transmission
After that, the technician continued with the reassembly, including installing the new cooler and transmission lines. We also flushed the lines that couldn’t be replaced (because we’d have to unbolt the engine mount and lift it to replace them!).
With the new cooler in place, the transmission was securely mounted, the Y-pipe reinstalled, and the system topped off with fresh fluid. A test drive confirmed everything was functioning exactly as it should.
