Book your motorhome service early and beat the rush! With spring fast approaching, there’s no better time than now to book your motorhome service. Once the warm weather arrives, you don’t want to miss a moment to get on the road and enjoy the camping season.

Here’s what to think about with your motorhome repairs and services:

The Engine

When you take your motorhome to a professional, they’ll do complete RV engine repairs and inspections. First, we’ll change the oil to ensure the engine stays cool and well-lubricated. We’ll also check the transmission fluid, which maintains fluid pressure and keeps parts cool, and change the fluid if needed.

A general tune-up will also include checking spark plugs and wires. If you notice the motorhome is accelerating slowly or guzzling gas, it could be the spark plugs. You should also inspect and change gas and air filters to keep dirt and debris from the fuel pump and engine.

Brake Inspection

Typically, you should have the brakes inspected every one to two years. That said, if you are a frequent camper or live in your RV year-round, then an annual check is best. Obviously, working brakes are crucial while driving for long stretches or navigating windy mountain roads.

Many motorhomes have two brake systems, hydraulic and air brake, which Motorplex will inspect. We’ll ensure that all parts are in working order. Corrosion, poorly adjusted brakes from previous work or missing components are all things our experienced heavy vehicle technicians will spot.

Booking a brake inspection before the season starts will catch and repair any issues before you get on the road. It also lets you beat the motorhome repairs rush so that you can get camping sooner than later.

Don’t Forget the Tires

Those tires go through a lot during long trips, windy roads, or different terrain. Motorplex will check tire pressure, tread wear, sidewall wear, and tire age. If anything, more than ten years old tires should get replaced. If there are signs of wear on the tread that could worsen while on the road, be proactive and replace it now.

Be sure to check your tire pressure every 30 days to ensure your safety on the road. It will also improve fuel economy and help you catch uneven wear issues early.
