Motorhome Died While Driving in Spokane
In July 2025, we received a call from some campers who were having trouble with their classic 1992 E350 Motorhome. The customer told us that it died while driving, though it wasn’t running well for the last little while, but seemed to perk up after getting gas. Upon arrival, we discovered a large puddle of transmission fluid underneath the vehicle.
Unfortunately, we found several issues with this RV, and it needed extensive repairs. Our on-site inspections found:
- Obvious transmission fluid leaks
- Banging sounds when gearing from drive to reverse
- Fuel filter clogged with sediment, meaning the fuel pump could have some issues
- The water pump was also leaking
Was it game over for this motorhome? Nope! Anyone who owns an older RV understands the attachment and importance of investing in motorhome repairs. Plus, if you’re far from home, ditching your beloved RV in another city can be difficult.
Back At Our Motorplex Facility in Spokane
While a lot was going on with this vehicle, we knew that getting it into the shop was critical. Once on our lifts, we were able to drop the transmission to fix that leak. We determined that this was the most vital issue and was required to get this motorhome running smoothly and safely again.
However, before we started that expensive job, we wanted to keep the customer informed every step of the way. Here’s what our expert technician told the customer before starting work on the transmission: “I’m going to pull out the pan first to see if there are any signs of catastrophic failure, and will stop the work if I see anything in the pan.”
Keeping our customers in the loop throughout the motorhome repair will reduce the chance of a surprises and a unwelcome bill. Read more about our RV repair services.
We also recommended that the owner take care of the other issues as soon as they could. For example, fixing the water pump leak, flushing the fuel tank and replacing the fuel pump to help prevent a future motorhome breakdown and give them peace of mind while on the road.
