We are in the middle of summer, and you’ve enjoyed using your motorhome so far! But, the only thing worse than preparing for a weekend adventure and finding out your motorhome requires repair – is breaking down on the road! Plus, most RV dealerships are booked solid with RV repairs for weeks!

Instead, turn to Motorplex. We are experts in diesel engines and motorhome repairs. We can ensure your RV operates efficiently, smoothly, and safely for another fun month of summer road trips.

Here is our mid-summer RV service checklist:

Check the tires

Big wheels keep on turning! Even if you’ve had an annual inspection, you should inspect your tires before every trip. Bring the RV in for a tire replacement before you go if you notice wear on sidewalls or uneven tread, bulging, or bald spots. Uneven wear can indicate issues with alignment, shocks, and other front-end problems. We can determine if you need to replace the tires or if a more significant issue needs motorhome repairs.

While at it, check the tire pressure and inflate your tires according to their specifications. You can also check the lug nuts for wear and ensure they’re nice and tight.

Check the fluids

The fluids are essential to your rig! Check dipsticks and fluid reservoirs for your oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering, coolant, and windshield washer fluid. If you bring in your motorhome for RV repairs and service, we’ll also check the fluids and filters. Engine air filters, cabin air filters, and oil and fuel filters should be inspected and replaced if necessary.

Inspect the brakes

If you don’t feel comfortable crawling under your motorhome to check the brakes, book an RV maintenance service appointment with Motorplex in Auburn or Spokane. We’ll check and adjust your brakes, axles, and differentials to ensure they’re safe for the road.

Inspect all belts

While your rig is already in our shop, we’ll inspect the hoses, wires, and belts. If something is worn, cracked, frayed or loose, we’ll opt for a replacement of those items before you hit the road.

Check the battery

A dead battery on the road to a camping adventure is the worst! Give your battery a visual inspection and check for signs of corrosion around the posts. You can clean that off with a wire brush. You should also check for bulging, leaking or other visual damage. If spotted, replace that battery right away. In addition, check the age of your current battery. If it’s reaching the end of its lifespan, it’s best to replace it before you head out. Then you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’ll have the battery power.
